Vector Networks Unleashes Asset Management Pro v5.6 with many New Features and Platform Additions

November 9, 2009 — Atlanta, Montreal, and Birmingham (UK) — Vector Networks, a leader in desktop asset and service management solutions, today announced Vector Asset Manager Pro v5.6 with significant enhancements including Console and Client Agent support for Windows Server 2008, extensions to the Microsoft OS and Application Serial Number reporting, and new modes of maintenance and update for the Client Agent.

Asset Manager Pro is known for its comprehensive industry leading features including Asset Discovery, Inventory and Mapping, License Compliance, Software Usage Monitoring, and Application Software Requirements Planning. The new version extends these capabilities and support to Microsoft's popular Server 2008.

The new version of Asset Manager Pro also features an updated desktop agent. The agent is important to Asset Manager Pro because it provides fine-grained software usage information and supports the solution's much sought after on-demand software distribution features. The new agent eases administration with the new ability of existing client agents to be automatically overwritten upon update. Asset Manager Pro can now also locate systems running old versions of the Client — including those that might have lost contact — so they can be brought up-to-date.

“With typical installations growing in size, through new customer acquisition and expansion in existing installations, we have been receiving increased requests for slicker methods of maintaining the client agent with service packs in between major versions,” said Erick Yanez, Vector Network's Montreal-based VP of Development. “We have responded to this in v5.6 with an easier to administer Client. We understand that ease of maintenance is an important aspect of ownership of our product.”
